Dilo ki deewali

Ghumo k udhergun me khoya kahan hai mera O dost…
Ghamo k anjum me khoya kahan hai mera O dost..

Deepo ki aaj aayee hai ye deewali, layee hai sang khusiyo ki chabhi..

Sang sab hain, paas bhi sab hain
Magar dil k is halchal bhari sabnam me khoya kahan hai O mera dost..

Din bhi dhal gya, suraj bhi chala gya..
Magar chahat ki is mahaphil me kahan hai mera O dost…

Sam aayee, deepo ki sang roshini bhi layee..
Patakhe k is bhari sor gul me na jane ghum kahan rah gaya mera O dost..

Dhund launga, khoj launga, ho sake to us rab se bhi lar jaunga
Magar sam k is mehfil me sath hoga mere dost ka..

Khub jhumenge sath nachenge, khud ko kho k usko payenge..
Jo sath ho mere ek dost ka…

“Be Kind for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle”. Bring out what this quote means to you in present context.

Life is a hard battle and conquering over one’s desire, emotions (Temperance) is the toughest challenge.

Treat others the way u want to be treated” is a well quoted sermon but difficult to follow. As social beings, we tend to be driven by complusions, emotions, inclinations etc. These manifestations have overbearing on our behaviour.

For instance, comming back from work, being tired and exhausted, it becomes difficult to offer your seat kindly to other when you yourself is struggling to stand.

Overcrowded public offices make it difficult for its officials to act kindly and calmly always. As huge workload and nuisance people make things often irritating.

However, such shortcommings are both personal and situtional driven. They can be controlled through being emotionally intelligent, showing proper empathy and compassion.

Buddhist philosophy believes in absolute compassion and love for beings.
For instance, “After years of brutal repression by Chinese authority in Tibet”, confessed one pious monk, “The only thing I feared while in captivity was loosing my compassion and kindness for my perpetrators.”

Such prudent examples and thoughts can be best served to help us being kind and generous irrespective of our situation.

Do you think honesty is always the best policy, especially in Public Services? Justify.

Honesty is an essential attitude of Public officers. It helps people reach at an upright and ethical decision even in their most self-contradictory phase.

Overcoming personal inclination, biasness and prejudices are something honesty attributes innately. Hence, such is its aura that people often call, “Honesty is the best policy”.

However, pragmatism is something that should always prevails over idealism. Being honest and just is quite prominent but our acts must be in accordance with the situation and order of the day. As it can leave public officers vulnerable to professional and personal losses.

For instance, during a communal riot, revealing information regarding number of deaths and their religion can further tense the situation.
The recent example of concealing health report of Tamilnadu CM J Jayalalita too is a testimony in the regard. As any bad news can flare up the situation and causing law and order problems.

Thus, being honest in a rational and practical way is more prolific. Such values can further be substantiated by empathy, integrity and compassion towards people and their services.
